2010 Kiwanis Peanut Auction
On Friday, September 10th, the Kiwanis Club of Lakeland will hold its Annual Peanut Auction and this year’s beneficiary will be Alliance for Independence.
Alliance for Independence is a private non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that provides adult day training and residential services to over 120 adults with developmental disabilities daily and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Alliance for Independence is a community partner of the United Way of Central Florida. Alliance for Independence has been serving adults with developmental disabilities in Polk County for 56 years, providing each individual with the awareness, education, community resources and personal relationships necessary to achieve independence.
Kiwanis has committed $15,000 from its 2010 Kiwanis Peanut Auction toward Vocational Training and Education Programs at Alliance for Independence. This year’s event will include a Silent Auction, as well as a Live Auction with Lakeland’s own, Marty Higginbotham.
You do not need to be a member of Kiwanis to attend this event and you do not need to be present on the day of the event to participate. If you are unable to attend the event, log onto www.peanutauction.com to take a look at the great Auction items that are available and make your bid!
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Lakeland is one of the largest civic organizations in Florida. The Club was chartered in 1922 with just 59 members and today, with over 200 members, the club strives to make as many meaningful contributions to its community as possible. The club, best known for its annual Pancake Festival, donated more than $40,000 to Lakeland-area organizations last year.
