If you believe – like I do – that helping others is one of life’s most rewarding activities, then I urge you to become more familiar with Alliance for Independence (AFI) . . . and participate in the growing number of opportunities that can “make a difference” in the lives of people who need and truly appreciate your support.
For more than 50 years, Alliance for Independence (formerly the Polk County Association for Handicapped Citizens) has provided comprehensive and critically important adult day-training programs and residential services for people with developmental disabilities. By providing our clients with specific skills and practical experiences, we strive to enable each individual to become independent adults and contributing members of our community.
But we need help. While funding remains an ongoing challenge, Alliance for Independence is also in need of volunteers in areas as diverse as chaperoning field trips & lending a hand at special events to serving on our Board of Directors. If you have the desire to help – and to “make a difference” – Alliance for Independence has a place for you.
Help us help those who need it most. In doing so, you will make a difference not only in the lives of our clients, but also in the fabric of our community and its quality of compassionate life.
Sincerely,
John Burton
Chairman
