The Support Services Department acts as a liaison between Alliance for Independence, the individual being served, Community Based Advocates and family or group home. It is here where the stepping stone towards the goal of individual objectives, independence and personal choice begins.

Support Services is the clearing house for all individuals interested in attending our program and the services we offer.

When a person decides to participate in Alliance for Independence's Adult Day Training Program, an Individual Personalized Plan (IPP) is initiated. As the yearly plan is developed and then implemented, the individual will be called by his/her skills instructor to learn and practice the chosen skill each day they are in attendance at Alliance for Independence. There are currently over 300 skill programs to choose from and that number continues to grow. Some of the skills available are community adjustment, home management, functional academics, social enrichment, health and safety, identifying a stranger, community safety, listening skills, etc.

Program Specialists are responsible for preparing Annual Reports for Support Plan Meetings for each person on their case load, creating skills training programs, administering medications and maintaining current information in the Central Records for ongoing case status progression. AFI's Program Specialists become very familiar with each person we serve and are the main contact for individual case status for case coordinators, family and friends.
